Originally from Japan, Maki studied TV Journalism in universities in the UK and the U.S.. Upon graduation, she first relocated to Hong Kong as a journalist, but that quickly changed when international investigative research and risk advisory firm KROLL International hired her as an investigator to work alongside former military and intelligence personnel. That opportunity brought Maki into the world of forensic accounting and intelligence gathering, where she stayed for the next decade.
Although her main duty was writing reports for Japanese clients, who included the Japanese government and large corporations such as Sony and Honda, Maki was occasionally assigned roles in field operations. After working in the industry for about seven years, she founded a Hong Kong-based private investigation firm.
Having amassed a network of connections in Hong Kong, Maki also served as an intermediary between Japanese businessmen and companies by helping them set up their businesses in Hong Kong. It led Maki to establish her own property agency which mainly helps clients rent commercial and office spaces prior to joining Okay.
By interacting with variety of businessmen and high net worth people, she occasionally acts as an intermediary for European private banks. She also involves Fine Arts, particularly Contemporary Arts, by serving both clients and Japanese artists. Maki also worked at a well-known French gallery, Galerie PERROTIN and served Japanese artists and clients there. In 2016, she dedicated the whole summer for the preparation of Takashi Murakami’s solo show in Paris.
Maki’s extensive experience in research and intelligence gathering has trained her to become a meticulous real estate professional with a sharp eye for details. And bringing her experience in serving high net worth clients in many aspects helps her understand their needs and expectations when they look for properties.
Discreet, diligent and down-to-earth, Maki values the importance of ensuring fairness and facilitating a mutually enjoyable experience between home sellers and buyers, and tenants and landlords.
When Maki isn’t gathering information on the best homes for her clients, she is most likely golfing and luxuriating in spa treatments across the globe.
