Just a five-minute drive from each other, Chung Hom Kok and Stanley are located on Hong Kong Island's southern coast. These neighbourhoods are characterised by their tranquil and low-density ambience, with Chung Hom Kok considerably less crowded than Stanley. Townhouses and low-rise apartment complexes can be founded in both areas. Commuting to Central typically takes 30 to 45 minutes, offering residents a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle while maintaining convenient access to its core.

Housing

Picturesque sea views and secluded outdoor areas grace the townhouses in Chung Hom Kok and Stanley, giving residents a calming start to their day. Apartments are primarily in low-rise buildings with generally spacious allocations. The complexes here are a fine mix of colonial and modern architecture. Privacy is a premium in Chung Hom Kok, and properties come with higher price tags than Stanley’s still-considerable property offerings.

Schools

The Hong Kong International School (HKIS) primary and secondary school campuses are nearby, located in Repulse Bay and Tai Tam respectively. For those who want their children to follow the American curriculum, the HKIS is an ideal choice. Aside from HKIS, there are many other international kindergartens in nearby districts. Montessori Nursery, a premier pre-kindergarten, has one of its branches in Stanley.

Highlights

Facilities in Chung Hom Kok include a supermarket, a public hospital (Cheshire Home), and laundry services. However, most residents prefer to shop in Stanley, where there is a large plaza with a diverse selection of shops and amenities. Stanley is well known for its souvenir market and trademark seaside restaurants that tourists love. As a popular tourist site, Stanley can get very busy during peak seasons, so bear that in mind. Stanley has retained its old village charm and is a self-contained community where all you might need – from groceries, food, or services – are just a few minutes away. Murray House is one of Hong Kong’s oldest surviving public buildings and was relocated from Central to its current position in Stanley. During June every year, the Stanley International Dragon Boat Championship is the highlight at Stanley Main Beach. A number of international corporate teams participate in this cultural sporting event.
