Deep Water Bay, Repulse Bay and South Bay are found on the south side of the island and are some of the quieter and more picturesque districts in Hong Kong. Hong Kong International School (HKIS)'s primary school campus is located in Repulse Bay, while its secondary school is situated in nearby Tai Tam. HKIS follows the American curriculum.
Bradbury Junior School and South Island School are both members of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), with residences in these districts falling into their catchment areas.
The Canadian (CDNIS) and Singaporean International Schools are found on Nam Long Shan Road and are recognized International Baccalaureate World Schools. CDNIS is also authorized to grant credits toward the completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Though lesser known to tourists than its neighboring Repulse Bay Beach, Deep Water Bay Beach is a treasured hangout for long-time residents and a huge attraction for those looking to buy or rent property in the area. The residential community consists of many expatriates - due largely to the wide range of international schools in the surrounding area, as well as its noted tranquillity.
One of the main attractions of both Deep Water Bay and Repulse Bay are their long public beaches. Two smaller beaches are found at South Bay and Middle Bay, a short walk away from Repulse Bay Beach. These tend to be less crowded as there are no direct bus routes.
Most necessities, such as banking and medical services, dry cleaning and groceries, can be found in the Repulse Bay Shopping Centre.
The Hong Kong Golf Club, Hong Kong Country Club, Aberdeen Marina Club and American Club are all a short drive away.
